Naomi Osaka became WTA No.1 as she wins her 2nd consecutive slam in style, edging a resurrected Kvitova. Novak Djokovic gives Nadal a hardcourt lesson that will frighten the chasing pack of young players. They will have to up their game for Paris, but my pick for the French Open is still Nadal for No.12. Djokovic has set his goal to hold all 4 slams at the same time, like he did in the 15/16 season. Whilst Serena Williams is still looking for slam No. 24.

I had the opportunity to be the first speaker in the new saleroom of the Auction House at Duggleby Stephenson of York. Partners Rod Cordingley, Richard Tasker, Ed Stephenson and staff joined my Locker Room Power talk.
I had a tough act to follow, as Richard explained, within 15 minutes of the inaugural antique sale in this room, one Japanese black lacquer cup sold for a staggering £23,000 after an opening bid of just £100. This large portrait, which only just fit through the salesroom doors, will be for sale on the 1st of February 2019. During the course of the evening I shared insights from my playing days on subjects such as resilience, controlling perceptions, conquering fear, focusing on strengths, visualising, positive self-talk and teamwork. During the Q&A session we had an in depth look at confidence building, commitment and motivating staff. Giving my thanks for the warm welcome and brilliant feedback I received from the staff at Duggleby Stephenson. |
